Why Humans must not consume milk?

A million dollar question that may have been debated over a thousand times at various places ranging from conferences to local gossip, is milk a vegetarian commodity or otherwise. Well, milk is an animal product but is not part of animal. In this case it would be regarded as non vegetarian.

This implies that most vegetarians are happy to drink milk or consume milk based products.

Milk is assumed to be a complete food. Taking this fact on face value, our ancestors added it into diet for children. It did not long for milk to find place in adults’ diet.

Coming to the main point, why I recommend milk is not consumable.

1. Look into the nature and you will find that no other species except humans consume milk of other animals. Humans like all species are not designed to drink any milk except human milk. Consuming dairy products- cheese, paneer, mawa, yoghurt, sour cream or processed ones like ice cream, chocolates, cakes, condensed milk etc is not GREEN. Milk is not just milk. The milk of every species of mammal is unique and specifically tailored to the requirements of that animal. For example, cows' milk is very much richer in protein than human milk. Three to four times as much. It has five to seven times the mineral content. However, it is markedly deficient in essential fatty acids when compared to human mothers' milk. Mothers' milk has six to ten times as much of the essential fatty acids, especially linoleic acid.(Incidentally, skimmed cow's milk has no linoleic acid). It simply is not designed for humans.

2. Most cruel treatment is being meted out to milch cattle. Cattle are exposed to forced pregnancy cycles for continuous milk production. This is nothing lesser than slavery.

3. The calves are disallowed their share of milk feeding. What we are consuming is at the cost of those poor under privileged

4. Moreover the lactating females are subjected to oxytocin and other hormones to extract a greater volume of milk. Not only are the naturally-present hormones in cow’s milk stronger than human hormones, the animals are routinely given steroids and other hormones to plump them up and increase milk production. These hormones can negatively impact humans’ delicate hormonal balance.

5. Dairy products, when metabolized, are acid-forming. Our bodies are constantly striving for biochemical balance to keep our blood at 7.365 pH. Eating excessive acid-forming products can cause our bodies to overuse some of its acid-balancing mechanisms, one of which is the bones. Alkaline calcium is stored in the bones and released to combat excessive acidity in the body. Over time, bones can become fragile.

6. During the pasteurization process, vitamins, proteins, and enzymes are destroyed. Enzymes assist with the digestion process. When they are destroyed through pasteurization, milk becomes harder to digest, therefore putting a strain on our bodies’ enzyme systems
